Base Titanium Limited, the Kenyan subsidiary of the Australian company, Base Resources Limited, is developing the globally significant Kwale Mineral Sands Project about 50km south of Mombasa.
The project Is now funded and construction commenced in the 3rd quarter of 2011.
Production is scheduled to start during the second half of 2013.
Various Contractors will shortly be commencing work on site and persons interested in being considered for a position which will become available as a result are invited to register with the Base Employment register.

Action Against Hunger (ACF)-USA is part of the ACF-lnternational Network which works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.
ACF-USA is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following positions;
Safety And Security Coordinator
Reporting to the Country Director, the safety and security coordinator’s objectives will be to optimize the security management structures and plans for the four ACF entities in Nairobi (ACF Kenya, Somalia, Regional Logistics Center and Regional Training Center) as well as increasing the security management capacity of ACF Kenya mission.
The coordinator will provide an overall safety and security assessment of Nairobi urban area, Mombasa and the Kenyan coastal area.
He/she will review security-related management and communication structure presently used to manage security between ACF Kenya, ACF Somalia, the Regional Training Center and the Regional Logistics Center and conduct physical security assessment of the ACF offices, guesthouses and expatriates premises in Nairobi (accompanied by the respective reports).
He/She will develop a contingency plan for the upcoming 2012/2013 General and presidential elections applicable for all four ACF entities operating in Nairobi.
The incumbent will also in collaboration with logistics department, review and revise the National Security Plan, the SOPs for all five field bases and develop local contingency plans ahead of the general and Presidential elections.
In addition he/she will provide on the job training and capacity building for NBC Logistics team, Dadaab Field Coordinator and Heads of Bases to better implement security management (National Plans and SOPs), Provide training to all ACF-Kenya staff on safety and security matters as per a continuous mission training plan and develop security induction briefing guidelines and launch a monthly incidents and analysis tools covering Nairobi and all field operations sites.
Qualifications and Skills required
  • Graduate level skills in any related disciplines
  • Advanced certificates/training in Security management from a well recognized institute or agency
  • Significant previous experience overseas with humanitarian work, in complex crisis and/or natural disaster
  • Substantial experience of work in country under security focus
  • Experience in managing security for an NGO
  • Familiarity with Humanitarian principles and practices
  • Experience operating in a volatile security environment
  • Excellent communication system skills
  • Experience in fleet and assets management
  • Experience training staff in technical skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Previous experience with ACF preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in logistics

1. Job Title: Finance Manager (Partners)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Country Financial Controller, the Finance Manager (Partners) will play a key role within the finance department in ensuring all aspects of Concern’s financial procedures and processes with partners are effectively carried out.
This will include the pre-assessment of partner financial capacities, the development of appropriate financial clauses in partner agreement, the monitoring of partner expenditure and performance, the development of partner capacity building strategies and assistance to partners and programme managers in the planning and design phase of the project.
The position will require a high degree of technical financial knowledge with strong training and audit skills with the two key objectives of supporting and counter-parting partners towards achieve programme objectives and ensuring Concern’s monies are utilized in the appropriate and a transparent manner.

Person specification:
  • Fully qualified accountant CPA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent. BCom degree or other relevant degree

  • Experience in training finance staff and non-finance managers.
  • Flexibility and ability to work on own initiative.

2. Job Title: Finance Officer 
(1 Year Contract)
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Country Financial Controller, the Finance Officer, Kenya you will primarily focus on ensuring that the database in Nairobi is maintained accurately and all relevant internal reports are issued on a timely basis.
Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the fundamental accounting functions (bank, cash, authorisation controls) in Nairobi, including ad hoc payroll processing, journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
The performance of this role will require flexibility as the exact duties will vary depending on a number of factors in Kenya.
Additionally, excellent time management skills will be required to cope with the disparate duties.
The main duties and responsibilities can be classified into 6 key areas:
  • General Ledger maintenance
  • Month End Management
  • Operational budget Management
  • Partner budgets & Accounting
  • Donor Grant Management
Other Duties
  • Financial reports and planning (not a main responsibility)
Person specification:
  • Fully qualified accountant CPA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in similar position, and experience working with an INGO and in an emergency context
